#BartraghIsland - A Co Mayo island owned by golfer Nick Faldo was at the centre of a recent High Court case over a dispute between previous owners, as The Irish Times reports.
Mary Molloy owned Bartragh Island from 1989 till 1996 when, after falling into arrears, she made an arrangement with Loughrea-based performing artist Sean Simon to sell the island.
The deal included a buy-back clause, the exercise of which, Molloy claimed, had been frustrated.
A previous High Court case in 2003 ruled that Molloy was entitled to damages in a decision she later appealed to the Supreme Court before withdrawing.
After agreeing in 2014 to re-enter Molloy's request for a new assessment of damages, the High Court this week awarded €700,000, as well as ruling that a smaller island off Bartragh be transferred into her possession.
