HYC offers Youth Keelboat Team opportunity

HYC offers Youth Keelboat Team opportunity

With the support of Enda O'Coineen and Euro Car Parks, Howth Yacht Club is giving ten under-25 sailors the opportunity to take the step into keelboat racing at a number of J/24 championships, open events and club races building up to competing at the J/24 Worlds at Howth next year.

Applications are now being sought (by April 4th) from those sailors wishing to be considered for selection on to two 5-person crew panels. The club will provide the two crews with a competitive J/24 with brand new sails from Hyde Sails Irish distributor, as well as an Etchells, in order to compete in one-design and major IRC racing in Ireland and the UK.

More information on the selection process and criteria, the costs associated with the Youth Keelboat Team and a schedule of events planned for this season can be found on www.hyc.ie under Junior Sailing tab.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
