Dun Laoghaire clapped in Irens

22nd May 2008

Currently undergoing sea trials, but bound for Dun Laoghaire, is one extremely stylish and sophisticated 63-foot motor cruiser from the pen of Nigel Irens.

The boat was commissioned by a leading Dun Laoghaire yachtsman, with an interest in classic yachts.

Molly Ban hit the water in Denmark in late March and will glide the top of Scotland and down the Irish Sea after sea trials are complete. Its slightly smaller sister, at 17 metres, conceals three double cabins, with three heads and two showers, and cruises comfortably at a shade over 18 knots, with 475 horses doing the work.

The good folk at Nigel Irens design have posted a video snippet of the long waterline, low displacement cruiser cutting razor-like through the water during her first sea trials.

Even oceanic purists, those who scoff at motor bottlers, will be forced to sit back and admire what is an undeniably beautiful piece of handiwork. Expect to see her lending an aquiline elegance to Dublin bay this summer.
