A unique north Mayo beach is the location for one of a number of events being run for World Sand Dune Day.
A guided walk will take place on Tuesday, June 27th, at Rinn Rua (Rinroe) beach, hosted by An Taisce and the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS).
Rinn Rua is northwest of Rossport and close to An Cheathrú Thaidgh (Carrowteigue) in north Mayo.

Minister of State for Heritage Malcolm Noonan recently announced a €7.4m nature project funded by the EU and led by the NPWS to restore machair habitats and related species.
It will also protect vulnerable wading birds, such as the curlew.
The project will run until 2028 and will work on nine sites covering over 5,000 hectares along the western seaboard, from west Connemara in Galway to south Mayo, Achill Island and the Erris region in northwest Mayo to north Donegal.
The project is led by the NPWS and co-funded by the European Commission’s LIFE fund.
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Teagasc and Fáilte Ireland are also involved.
